Water

If you’ve been following on the Indian cinema (and of course you heard of the great success of Slumdog Millionaire) you must have heard of the Indian Candian visionary female director Deepa Mehta and her Elements Triolgy: Fire, Earth and Water.

As in Fire, Deepa tried to discuss the subject of homosexuality of neglected women in the Indian society (sex is not for lust, it is only to get more kids) but she did not stop there even when she threatned she moved on to make Earth a conterversial film of the racial hatred of breaking up India into smaller countries, while water deals with the life of cast away widows of India and their miserable lives.

In my opinion, Water (which was Oscar nominated by the way, and i do not know for what possible reason it did not win!) is a great and outstanding example of film making in all levels: Script, Dialogue, Cinematogrphy, Direction, Acting, Music …etc. I would not blink so i would not miss any second of the beautiful imagery.

Truth is, What moved more than the beauty of Lisa ray and John Abraham is the performance of the little girl Sarala as the 8 year-old window and the amazing performance of Seema Biswas as Shakuntala the widow that questions her faith!

If you REALLY love cinema in its true form, WATER is a must see.

Microsoft is day dreaming

In reponse to the latest February NPD game / hardware sales figures for the US, Microsoft has commented on “formerly Sony-exclusive series’” expecting them to sell more on the Xbox 360 in the future. This includes the recently released Resident Evil 5 as well as Final Fantasy XIII.

This is a bold statement considering Final Fantasy is biggest in Japan and is still PlayStation 3 exclusive in that region.

Looking at previous data for Final Fantasy XII, the game launched with three times as many copies sold in comparison to the US release. Only the release will tell, but their comment is more likely to antagonise than anything else.
