By now i realize it is 5:18 am, the morning prayer was echoing outside with the interrupting incidental sounds of rushing cars once in a while, a very quiet night, i did not even play any MUSIC!
This is a piece i did to put some practicing on, and i guess i am getting some results, not yet very satisfying but as they say “the road of 100 miles starts with a step!” .
I started in photoshop, A4 size, 150 dpi, RGB color, started sketching with a light brush, stroking around to get an idea of what i want to draw, after that; i trace the output with a hard black brush set to pen pressure thus i get nicer lines and not rigid strokes.
By that time i got my outline (Line Art) ready for some gazing at! the fun part starts with throwing basic colors in, different shades, different brushes -mostly soft ones-, i defined my coloring areas and now ready to start defining shapes.
Shading tones still amaze me, i got some tips on directing the light and picking the right pallete for skin tones and other things, still i like to add non-shade colors for fun, i added gray tones and red tones over all to the skin to give it the warmth and depth i wanted, i also played with a brush with “scattering” option to give texture to the skin. i like that brush alot now!
the drawing looked very dull, it was time for some serious smudging around with different types of brushes for each area … i also made a mental note to draw the nose and neck lines, these things are only define by how much light you throw around them, also shadow!
The final part was the design part, which included giving depth to the body with dropping a shade to a pattern-made background, and my favorite Alexander Pope lines (as mentioned today in a comment on Salem Beiruti’s poem on facebook http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=34414527690&ref=nf )
It is done!
i look at it, and mentally goes “oh i could have done this and that more!” but at this stage and as i say, LEAVE IT … it is better to do so and come back to it again when your mind is set free of the pallete you were working on and you can then start messing around with new colors.
Oh by the way, for those who did not figure it out: this is me!
